Keeping your Aeria Games account safe is very important! If an unauthorized person manages to gain access to your account, your in-game items could potentially be lost and that can just about ruin your day. To prevent this from happening, we've made a list of ways you can keep your account safe from potentially being compromised.
Here are some steps you can take to protect your account:
1. Reset your password!
The best way to keep your account safe is to change your password, especially to something extremely difficult to figure out. Strong passwords contain a mixture of lowercase and uppercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Compare "password123" with "fdB+3Ep#C52h".
To change your password:
- Move your mouse over your username in the upper right-hand corner of any Aeria Games page.
- From the drop-down menu, click "Settings"
- From the list of tabs, click "Account" at the very end on the right-hand side.
- Next to "Password", click "Change"
- Enter your current password, and your new password (twice for confirmation), then enter the Captcha code.
- Click "Submit"
We recommend everyone change their passwords at least once a month if they haven't been changed in a long time.
2. Never share your password!
Aeria Games employees will never ask you for your account information in a public setting, including in-game chats. If someone Whisper chats you for your information and threatens to ban you if you don't tell them your account details, they are not an Aeria employee. Do not enter your account information on suspicious-looking sites, even if they promise you'll get a rare item or AP in return. If you suspect you may have gotten a key-logger on your computer, run a virus scan to remove it or use the Virtual Keyboard at the game log-in screen. When it comes to your info, in the immortal words of Gandalf the Grey: "Keep it secret. Keep it safe."
3. Don't use personal details in your password!
The most common passwords involve numbers relating to birthdays or anniversaries and words relating to people or pets. If you like to talk about your pets, please don't use their names in your password. Do not make your password similar or the same as your account name. Do not put important dates in your password. Do not make your password easy to guess!
4. Never share your account with someone else!
Any and all account sharing is a violation of the Terms of Service. When you share your account, you risk that the person you shared the account with will misuse the account or the items/gold/AP on the account. Aeria Games is not responsible for any misuse of an account that has been purposefully compromised, meaning that if you share your account and have your items or gold stolen as a result, they will not be replaced. Do not share your account.
If you notice that your account has been compromised and you have lost items, gold, or AP, please report it immediately. You can submit an RT regarding a compromised account HERE. The sooner you report this information, the higher the chance that we can recover your items and your account. However, it's better to be safe than sorry: by keeping your account information extra secure, you protect your in-game items as well.
We are hoping that these measures will help our players out. It's extremely upsetting to see people losing their hard-earned items. Please take this advice into account, keep your details safe, and help keep Grand Fantasia fair and awesome.
